Veteran singer Vani Jayaram passes away

Vani Jairam, the legendary National Award-winning playback singer, has recently passed away at the age of 78. She was announced to receive the Padma Bhushan, which is the third-highest civilian award in India. Unfortunately, Vani passed away at her home on Haddows Road in Nungambakkam, Chennai. Reports say she had an injury on her forehead.

Vani Jairam was an incredibly talented singer who worked with some of the biggest names in the industry and created many timeless hits. Her musical career spanned across various languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Urdu, Marathi, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Tulu, and Oriya. Not only did she perform all over India, but also entertained audiences around the world. It’s worth mentioning that she won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer a remarkable three times. Additionally, Vani received recognition from multiple Indian states including Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Gujarat, and Odisha.

Vani Jairam recently marked her 50th year as a professional singer, an impressive milestone. Over the course of her career, she recorded an amazing 10,000 songs. She was fortunate enough to collaborate with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including legends like MS Ilaiyaraaja, RD Burman, KV Mahadevan, OP Nayyar, and Madan Mohan, just to name a few.
